Looking for?		Searching for items is a relatively easy process. If you are looking for good or services, try entering a word that is associated with that service. We have organized the listings after the way the Yellow Pages are index, so you can use those words also. You can also search the listings by any portion of the business name. You may also select an area to search in, and all matches for that town, and it's neighbors will be retrieved. If there are more than 600, then only the first 600 will be shown.

Searching for a Pittsburgh Restaurant or a Business in Allegheny County, a Product, Service, or Business in Allegheny County and Pittsburgh on PittsburghBusinesses.net is a rather straightforward process but there are a few hints that may help. There are three areas where you can enter information for your search.

Searching for a Product or Service
Searching for a Business Name
And Searching within an Area

When entering your search criteria, please note that we search for a Service or a Business name and not a combination of both.

Searching for a Product or Service

We have tried to catalogue the Businesses in our database in a similar manner as the Yellow Pages directory.

When searching our database, we look for words that 'contain' the word that you requested to be searched for. At times this may seem to produce unexpected results but that is what we found.

For Example, if you are looking for a car repair shop and enter CAR, we might return references for CARPETING, ROOFING AND CARPENTER SERVICES as well as CAR DEALERS.

Had you entered the search word as CAR followed by a space, better results would be returned.

Searching for a Business Name

We will search for a Business Name based on any word within that Businesses' name that contains the word you have entered as your search word.

For Example, assume that there is a Business named MIDNIGHT'S CAT STORE. If you were to use any of those words (Midnight or Cat or Store), the Business will be retrieved.

We would suggest that you avoid punctuation (such as an apostrophe) as it may not be associated with the record.

For Example, George's may be listed as Georges.' If you were to search on just George you will find the listing.

Searching within an Area

In the Drop Down box on the Search page, you may specify a specific community (or communities) to focus your search.

One Community. By clicking on one community, your search will focus first on the community and then on the communities that border the one that you have selected.
Multiple Communities can be searched by holding down the CTRL key and then clicking on the community name.
All Communities. By not selecting a specific community, all communities will be searched for what you are requesting.
